TFM-100 Index
The Thursday Footy Markets league index — average market value across all players who have played at least once. Like the S&P 500.
P/E (Price-per-Goal)
Current Value divided by total goals scored. Lower is better — surfaces players providing more goals per £M of value. ∞ means hasn't scored.
Beta (β)
Volatility relative to the average played player. β=1.0 is typical, β>2.0 is wild, β<0.5 is rock steady.
Sharpe Ratio
Risk-adjusted return — total Δ from baseline divided by volatility. Higher = consistent gains. Negative = losing more than the volatility justifies.
RSI (Bull/Bear)
OVERBOUGHT = recent surge, possibly due for a correction. OVERSOLD = recent crash, candidate for a bounce. Mean-reversion signal.
Analyst Rating
Composite of momentum (last 3 weeks' net Δ), valuation (vs league avg), and form (last 3 played). Five tiers: STRONG BUY · BUY · HOLD · SELL · STRONG SELL. Each rating ships with a one-line thesis. Real, not flattering.
Earnings Season (W5/W10/W15/W20)
Quarterly release. Each player gets a card: EPS (goals/game), Revenue (sum of weekly Δ), P/E (annualized), Quarterly P&L, Guidance (BEAT ≥ +£15M · MEET · MISS ≤ −£15M).
🚀 Short Squeeze
Sub-£75M player rips a hat-trick in a single week. Cellar-dweller goes off — explosive upside.
📉 Margin Call
£150M+ player drops ≥ £20M in one week. Top-heavy collapse — premium valuation meets brutal correction.
🆕 IPO
A player's first appearance of the season. The IPO Board tracks debut performance — Day 1 Δ vs the £100M starting price. W1 = "League Listing Day" (mass IPO).

Form-weighted ranking — sum of last 3 weeks' Δ. Differs from value rankings because someone can be high-value but cooling off.
⚙ HOW VALUE MOVES
Win / Loss / Draw
Win = +£10M base · Loss = -£8M base · Draw = 0. Modified by Strength of Opposition (0.7×–1.3× multiplier).
Goals scored
+£2M per goal. Hat-trick (3+ in match) = +£5M extra.
Strength of Opposition (SoS)
Multiplier on the base W/L. Beating a stronger team = bigger gain; losing to a weaker team = bigger drop.
Giant-killer bonus
Win when your team's avg value is >£20M below opponent's = +£5M to +£15M extra.
Streak modifier
3+ wins in a row builds bonus (+£2M per streak game beyond 2, capped +£8M). 3+ losses in a row builds penalty (-£2M per game, capped -£8M).
Perfect / Disaster Week
Won AND scored = +£2M. Lost AND scored 0 = -£2M.
Blowout penalty / bonus
Lose by 5+ goals = additional -£3M for every player on the losing side. v1.3: winners now also get +£1M per goal of margin (capped at +£5M).
Inactivity penalty
Skip a match week (after first appearance) = -£0.5M. v1.3: Pre-Listing players (never played) take no penalty — they sit at baseline £100M until they IPO.
🛡️ Clean Sheet Bonus
v1.4: Your team conceded ≤3 goals = +£2M to every player on the team. Relaxed from 0-conceded so the bonus fires more often in 7-aside scoring games. Strong defense gets rewarded even when a couple slip through.
🦴 Backbone Bonus
v1.3: You played, won, and didn't score = +£2M. Recognizes the unsung — defenders, midfielders, anyone who held the line without putting their name on the scoresheet.
⚓ Defensive Sector Multiplier
v1.3: Auto-classified DEFENDER (career goals/match < 0.3) gets +£1M every time their team wins. Implicitly rewards consistent defenders.
🔜 Pre-Listing
v1.3: A player exists on the roster but hasn't played a match yet, so they have no market value. They appear in the Pre-Listing waiting room. First match = IPO at £100M.
